A new chapter in literacy and learning unfolds as Jean Henri Lhuillier, through the Consulate General of the Republic of San Marino–Philippines, joined LINKS Philippines in opening the JHL-RSM Library, the 30th installation of the Hooked on Books (HOB) program at Graciano Lopez Jaena Elementary School in Sampaloc, Manila.

The JHL-RSM Library represents the shared dedication of Jean Henri Lhuillier, the Consulate General of the Republic of San Marino–Philippines, and LINKS Philippines to opening more doors to knowledge and opportunity for Filipino children. The 30th Hooked on Books library provides a vibrant learning environment that nurtures curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation for the transformative power of reading.

“We believe that education remains one of the most powerful investments we can make for the next generation. This library is more than just a milestone—it is about creating opportunities to transform lives through the power of reading. When we give children access to knowledge, imagination, and a safe space to learn, we give them the confidence to dream bigger and create a better future,” said Jean Henri Lhuillier.

As Honorary Consul of the Republic of San Marino to the Philippines, Lhuillier has consistently championed initiatives that bridge education, culture, and community development. Through partnerships such as the Hooked on Books Program, he continues to support efforts that expand learning opportunities while fostering greater cultural awareness and global perspectives among young Filipinos.

The launch brought together stakeholders from the education sector and partner organizations united by a shared commitment to advancing literacy and expanding learning opportunities for Filipino children. The initiative was also made possible with the support of the City Government of Manila under the leadership of Manila City Mayor Hon. Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso. Present during the launch were President of LINKS Philippines Maria Consuelo Doble, Manila City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Sheryll T. Gayola, and Graciano Lopez Jaena Elementary School Principal Jinabelle Prieto, underscoring the collective effort to sustain the Hooked on Books mission and broaden its impact across communities.

The JHL-RSM Library was brought to life through the dedication of Cebuana Lhuillier employee-volunteers and the collaboration of partners, including Boysen, Tosot, Ilaw Atbp., Bookmark, UP GEOP, and Archispace Design Inc. Each played a vital role in shaping the library—from its design and development to creating a more vibrant, conducive learning space—providing students with an environment where curiosity and a love of learning can flourish.

With the JHL-RSM Library, Jean Henri Lhuillier, the Consulate General of the Republic of San Marino–Philippines, and LINKS Philippines reaffirm their shared commitment to expanding access to education and nurturing a culture of lifelong learning. As the Hooked on Books Program reaches its 30th milestone, the initiative continues to open doors to knowledge, opportunity, and a brighter future for generations of Filipino learners.
